Behavioral objectives (steps)

The first step is the elimination of my inattentiveness in the course of my communication as I do not listen to my interlocutors or interrupt them. Instead, I should listen to my interlocutors and start thinking critically of the information I receive from them.

The second step is the development of critical thinking. As I perceive information, I should take time and to think it carefully in the course of the communication with my interlocutor. I should record the time I spend on critical thinking and my responses.

The third step is the increase of my persuading power. Using the critical thinking of the information I receive from my interlocutors, I should use the received information and my critical thinking to make an argument or persuading signifier that will help me to persuade my interlocutors in my righteousness or to persuade them to take my side.

Two week daily journal

Day one.

Before the target behavior is exhibited I remind myself of the importance of critical thinking and how I should apply it in the course of the communication.

During the target behavior is exhibited, I totally forgot about my intention to use critical thinking and slipped to one-side dispute making my interlocutor a mere listener.

After the target behavior is exhibited, I thought carefully of my communication style and concluded that my communication was ineffective.

Day two.

During the target behavior is exhibited, I totally forgot about my intention to use critical thinking again and I did not waste my time on listening to my interlocutor and weighing his arguments carefully. Instead, I just told what I thought was right.

Day 3

Before the target behavior is exhibited, I read a lot of critical thinking and attempted to focus on its implementation during my conversations.

During the target behavior is exhibited, I recalled at first of critical thinking but I could not manage it and, thus, could not apply it.

After the target behavior is exhibited, I realized that my communication was ineffective and I still failed to use my critical thinking.

Day 4

Before the target behavior is exhibited, I re-read the information on critical thinking and attempted to figure what I did wrong the day before to change my communication for better.

During the target behavior is exhibited, I tried to think critically the communication I held at the beginning but eventually I failed to make critical thinking determinant factor in my communication. Instead, emotions took over me.

Day 5

During the target behavior is exhibited, I attempted to use the methods of using critical thinking in the course of conversation but the effect was similar to the day before.

After the target behavior is exhibited, I was a bit puzzled and though of my errors and why my critical thinking did not work well.

Day 6

Before the target behavior is exhibited, I decided to create the plan of using critical thinking and follow it in the course of my conversation.

During the target behavior is exhibited, I followed my plan and used critical thinking but by the end of my conversation emotions were too strong and my critical thinking could not stand against them.

After the target behavior is exhibited, I felt certain improvements and I considered my progress and persisting problems.

Day 7

Before the target behavior is exhibited, I decided to communicate to my friends to find out how they reach positive effects in their communication.

During the target behavior is exhibited, my communication was total failure because I just did not know what to do as I got too much information.

Day 8
