Ethnographic investigation, according to Goodley et al (2004), is a research approach that includes the study of culture and social world, where the researcher comes into this culture and reveals a hidden or open, as well as implicit cultural values.
Ethnographic investigation can be understood as the process of analytical study of people within the area of interest to the researcher, which includes a social interaction between man and the group, and an individual analysis of the interaction. Also, ethnographic investigation is aimed to study human cultures and subcultures. In the process of ethnographic investigation, the researcher analyzes the data obtained as a result of the gradual process of applying the methods set out in the theoretical concepts. To implement the theoretical concepts in practice, the researcher uses the philosophical and practical attempts. (LeCompte, 1999)
Ethnographic study has several distinctive features of scientific investigation. First, the process of ethnographic investigation is the study of the phenomena being investigated with the direct involvement of the researcher. Second, the researcher usually “dives” in the field of his study. Third, the use of various methods, including informal (for example, an informal interview). Fourth, finding original ways and methods of participation in the life of the investigated category of people or in the phenomena being studied. The investigation strategy is to monitor the progress of the researcher of the investigation process. (Hammersley & Atkinson, 1995)
