The social and political situation in Iraq is one of the most complex topics, since in the past few decades Iraq was in the center of a set of military-political conflicts and problems with the leading Western and Middle East countries. During the period from 1980 to 2010 Iraq has passed through three difficult wars: with Iran (1980-1988 gg.), with the U.S. (“Desert Storm”, August 1990 – February 1991) and again with the U.S. (2003-2010). These three wars had a major impact on the military, political, economic situation in Iraq and the region. Iraq suffered heavy casualties and economic damage, there were fundamental changes in the political organization of Iraqi society. These processes have very strongly affected the social life of the people of Iraq, who for years lived in an atmosphere of instability, conflict and wars. Therefore we can talk about many social problems of the Iraqi people.

The situation and life in Iraq during the past 30 years were formed mainly under the influence of numerous wars and conflicts, which had a major impact on the military, political, economic situation in Iraq and the region. These wars have destabilized the country, and have turned Iraq from the country with rigid totalitarian order and stability into a territory with interethnic passions, contradictions and conflicts. In addition, the destabilizing factors of the situation in Iraq for many years were the internal conflicts between the ruling Sunni minority, on the one hand, and the opposition in the face of the Shiite majority in the center and the south and Kurds in the north, on the other.
Political instability, armed attacks, bombings and other violent actions violated the security and normal life of the population. Population and economy are experiencing a shortage of food, electricity, fresh water, fuel and other important resources. A huge problem is unemployment, so that people don’t have normal conditions for life and work. That is, the overall social situation of the population in the country remains difficult.
