MAIN BODY

The origins of Hip Hop
Hip-hop culture is a single set of the thoughts, perspectives, ideas and other factors. However, it can be influenced by different styles of music, for example western. According to the Fernando, the birth of rap can be directly traced back to the concrete jungles of the Bronx in the late ’60s and early ’70s, an era now fondly remembered as the old school. Before the term “hip hop” ever came into vogue to describe this movement, there were outdoor parties in public parks at which a DJ would patch his sound system directly into a streetlight’s power box and play records as people gathered around to dance, rhyme over the beats, or write graffiti (1999, pg 3). The hip-hop culture was widespread among all the country. There were many singers and followers of hip-hop, who bought this direct of culture through out all the United States of America and English-speaking countries. After that, this culture reached even Russia, Ukraine and other countries.

DJ Kool Here, Flash, Bam, Tie Cold Crash Brothers, Mickey & Sylvia with jazz guitarist Mickey Baker and other people changed the culture and brought society new vision of art and culture. However, rap was really popular. Mostly it meant liberation and the real stuff return. As Lhamon has stated, even as rap may have been a welcome innovation, something about its form also seemed vaguely familiar, even to its young advocates, who had no interest in what used to be. Rap is rhythmic talk, talk leaning toward music. Yet all speech is to some degree rhythmic, with stresses occurring at regular intervals to make sounds easier to understand (2000, pg 23). It is known that the crucial factors that led to the revolution in the hip-hop area were such: Vietnam’s representation of social malaise of USA, political unrest, mentality in the spheres of law and order, the level of unemployment, narcotic or stimulant abuse and others. The crucial event of the revolution was the electing of president of United States of America (Richard M. Nixon) and eventually virtually overnight and matriarchy in the sphere of community disrupting. It must be mentioned that the years 1982 and 1983 were epochal to the hip-hop culture. It was the time when the break beat elders played out by videos, hardcore rappers and drum machines.

I admit that there were many processes of the creation of individual culture, which would satisfy interests of all Americans from the moment of creation of our country. These processes most roughly developed in 20 century and in the world have received the name of ”˜mass culture’. Thus mass culture is the culture intending for consumption by the people; this consciousness is not for people, but for commercial industry of culture; it is really hostile to originally national culture. It does not know traditions, has no nationality, its tastes and ideals vary with terrific speed according to requirements of the fashion. The mass culture addresses to the wide audience and appeals to the simple tastes. The hip-hop culture was born in the New York City in Bronx.
The hip-hop culture of the West Coast has its first rap record (MC boasts) where the characteristics were such: 808 claps, bass line bite of Rick Lames (that evoked, however, an L.A. avalanche of rap), and at last synch squiggles in fink style. Moreover, in the year 1983 the West Coast had its own sound. For example, there were one-third electro beats and two-thirds R&B, including the funk style. The examples of such music can be “Bad Times” by Captain Rap, “The Coldest Rap” by Ice-T and other ongs and singers who made East Coast radio and clubs full of hip-hop culture in all its forms.

Moreover, the hip-hop movement called Afrika Bambaataa that took place in the South Bronx and therefore created an alternative to culture of gangs. The hip-hop culture is a definitely powerful alternative when talking about streets’ nihilism. However, it is said that hip-hop confused the streets of United States of America. However, the preteen b-boys (and of course b-girls) youth movement was short and spontaneous; also it was characterized as one that was born because of endless hardcore.
