Researching Theory in Communication

Communication theory represents the academic studies researching the effects, origins and functioning of the phenomenon of Social Communication in its technological, social, economic, political and cognitive. It includes psychology, sociology and philosophy, depending on the type of approach and research objectives.

Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine life without computer, internet and online communication. Almost everyone who has an access to the internet uses online services for communication. Studies in Media began with the growing popularity of media technologies and their use during the totalitarian experience of Europe. In its first phase, they focused their attention on media messages and their effect on individuals emphasized the process of selection, production and dissemination of information through the media.

Today, studies in Social Communication are dedicated mainly to the social role and effect of the radio, since this was the first media vehicle to reach and popularity proportions sufficient to be characterized as a means of mass communication. Moreover, its reach led to its being widely used by totalitarian states emerged in Europe in the interwar period.

Modern communication is the process of establishing and developing contacts between people, the needs generated by the joint activity, involving the exchange of information and developing a common strategy for engagement, mutual perceptions and attempts to influence each other. Communication is carried out by means of the interaction of iconic actors, due to the needs of joint activities and it is also aimed at the significant change in condition, behavior and personal-semantic Education Partners.

Sides of communication are: communicative, interactive and perceptual. Communicative aspect of communication (or communication in the narrow sense) is to exchange information between communicating individuals. Interactive party is to organize the interaction between communicating of the individuals (sharing activities). Perceptual aspect of communication refers to the process of perception and learning from each other partners in the communication and the establishment on this basis of mutual understanding. The boundaries between these forms are conventional; they can merge and complement each other.

In the process of communication there are distinguished the following stages:

-The need for communication (to communicate or find information, to influence the interlocutor, etc.) – encourages people to come into contact with other people;

-Orientation in order to communicate, in a situation of communication;

-Orientation to person contact;

-Planning the content of your communication – people imagine (usually unconsciously) what to say;

-Unknowingly (sometimes knowingly) a person chooses the specific means and phrases, which he will use, and decides how to speak, how to behave;

-Making contact;

-Exchange views, ideas and facts;

-Perception and evaluation of the response buddy, monitoring the effectiveness of communication based on feedback;

-Adjustment of the direction, style and methods of communication.

All in all, the theory in communication is useful for the research of further demand of the community and need of new kinds of communication, of new levels of communication, its improvements and new approaches. The communication of today differs significantly from the communication that existed even five years ago, as today the majority of people prefer communication online in social networks. The affordability and comfort and one of the main points that attract people to use online communication.
