The British are accustomed to the consumption of a large amount of alcohol on the regular basis, while today, they slip to binge drinking as the daily consumption of alcohol decreases slightly, while the weekly rate of alcohol consumption remains stable.

Binge drinking among teenagers

At the same time, the problem of binge drinking affects not only the adult population of the UK but also teenagers. In this regard, teenage girls are in a particularly dangerous position because alcohol has a particularly destructive impact on their health. At this point, it is worth mentioning the fact that almost a half of 15-year-olds have been drunk at least twice ”“ almost double the 29% average of other developed countries, while 44% of 15-year-old British boys admitted to being intoxicated on two or more occasions (Press Association, 2). Teenage girls are vulnerable to the negative impact of alcohol because their bodies are in the process of formation. They are physically and psychologically immature. In such a situation, binge drinking has a destructive impact on their health.

At the same time, binge drinking has a negative impact not only on the health of teenage girls but also teenage boys. However, teenage males are more resistant to the impact of alcohol, although binge drinking also affects their health consistently. In fact, the impact of binge drinking on teenagers is more dangerous than the impact of binge drinking on adults because adults are physically developed, while teenagers are just growing and their bodies are not fully formed that increases the destructive impact of alcohol on their bodies. What is meant here is the fact that the impact of alcohol on teenagers is more dangerous and negative than the impact of alcohol on adults.

In actuality, the consumption of alcohol and binge drinking among teenagers in the UK is high. More important, the following graph shows that the consumption of alcohol and binge drinking grows progressively as teenagers grow older:
