Today, the agriculture and food sector faces considerable problems, which may aggravate consistently in the future. In this respect, one of the major issues the agriculture and food sector is facing today is the problem of the growing demand and the shortage of supply of food in the market. The recent rise of the food price in the global market has revealed the full extent to which the contemporary society is vulnerable to the risk of the shortage of food supply, while, in the future, this problem is likely to aggravate even more In such a situation, companies operating in the agriculture and food sector focus on finding the way to increase the production in the agriculture and food sector, along with the maintenance of the high quality and safety of food.

In fact, the problem of the widening gap between demand and supply in the agriculture and food sector affects consistently the development of companies operating in this sector. On the one hand, companies operating in the agriculture and food sector have the opportunity to accelerate their business development due to the high demand on the market. However, they need to find technology or ways to boost the food production to meet the growing demand. The growth of the world population increases the demand on food even more that means that companies operating in the agriculture and food sector will have a stable and high demand on its products.

On the other hand, there is a threat that governments of different countries may conduct protective policies and close their food markets that will undermine the position of companies operating internationally (Hamilton, 2010). In such a situation, there is a threat that many companies operating in the agriculture and food sector will lose their position in the global market.

At the same time, the widening gap between demand and supply and the shortage of food in the agricultural and food sector can affect consistently my professional career and development. In fact, the knowledge of the domestic market is not enough for me. Instead, I should understand trends that take place in the global market because changes in the global market are likely to affect the development of the agriculture and food sector internationally (Schlosser, 2001), while domestic markets cannot avoid the impact of the situation in the global market, especially taking into consideration the process of globalization and how it affects the development of the world agriculture and food sector.

At the same time, I come prepared to such challenges because I am aware of the essence of the process of globalization. In such a way, my current education allows me to assess adequately possible threats and risks that the agriculture and food sector may face in the context of globalization. I am aware of the interdependence of national markets and how they are vulnerable to the impact of changes in the global market. Therefore, I should just develop new skills to be able to forecast the future development of the market and mechanisms to prevent actual threats.

In this regard, the development of statistic analysis skills would help me to cope with challenges mentioned above because statistical analysis can help to forecast the further development of the market, and, thus, I could be able to develop strategy to cope with challenges.
