it was quite unusual because traditionally albums were united thematically and stylistically, while the works of Queen in the late 1980s ”“ early 1990s were characterized stylistic diversity with the strong trend to experiments. In this respect, it is quite important to note that the experiments developed by Queen were quite successful and demonstrated the fact that it was possible to use a variety of styles and implement them within one and the same genre of rock music.
At the same time, it should be said that the last two albums were probably the most successful but, on the other hand, they were the last albums created by Queen with the direct involvement of Freddie Mercury. It is worthy of mention that with the death of its leader the Queen started to gradually decline and, in actuality, there were just few new songs created by the bands, as a rule, the further albums were made on the basis of old songs recorded by Queen in different epochs.
At this point, it is important to place emphasis on the fact that Queen has managed to contribute to the growth of the popularity of rock music and transformation of the rock music into the mainstream music. In such a way, Queen contributed to the rise of the rock music and attracted the public attention to the rock music. In fact, the development of the rock music was closely intertwined with the progress of Queen because the band became a pace setter in the rock music. In this regard, the development of the rock music was affected by experiments in the rock music made by Queen. Queen was an extremely popular band and helped to develop rock music and changed the traditional rock music determining its progress and overall development.
At the same time, it is worth mentioning the fact that the raise of the rock in the 1980s and its huge popularity in the early 1990s made the rock music mainstream. On the other hand, the position of the rock music as the mainstream music stimulated numerous experiments in the field of rock music and encouraged the emergence of the alternative rock music. The emergence of the alternative rock music was quite natural result of the development of the rock music because the traditional rock music deprived many new, young bands of an opportunity to become popular. At the same time, the rock music encouraged young musicians and singers to experiment and to introduce new trends in the rock music. As a result, experiments with the rock music stimulated the development of the alternative rock music because musicians and singers helped to reveal new aspects of rock and stimulated the rise of rock-related movements. In this regard, the emergence of the alternative rock music confronted numerous obstacles because the alternative rock music was totally oppressed by the rock music as the mainstream music. The mainstream music deprived the alternative rock music of an opportunity to become popular. The public did not take the alternative rock music seriously because the rock music of Queen and other major bands dominated and was mainstream. However, the popularity of the rock music persisted but could not stop the rise of the alternative rock music which was grounded on the rock music but carried specific, unique features of the alternative rock music which made it distinct from the rock music.
In this regard, the growing popularity of the alternative rock music was closely intertwined with the band Nirvana. Nirvana became the band that made a breakthrough in the rise of the alternative rock. In fact, the alternative rock music existed before Nirvana. The development of the alternative rock music dates back to the 1980s. In such a way, the appearance of Nirvana in the late 1980s and its growing popularity in the early 1990s became the turning point in the history of the alternative rock music. In fact, the alternative rock music failed to gain popularity because alternative rock bands failed to attract the public attention and to gain such a tremendous success as Nirvana did. In other words, there was no such a band in the alternative rock music as Queen was in the rock music. In this regard, Nirvana became the band that has managed to make a breakthrough in the development of the alternative rock music.
However, Nirvana did not gain the popularity immediately. The first album of Nirvana, Bleach, did not gain the popularity and failed to attract the public attention. Nevertheless, experiments of the alternative rock music made by Nirvana were progressive and further experiments attracted the public attention to creative work of Nirvana. The first experiments of Nirvana were similar to numerous experiments of other alternative rock music bands but the band has proved to be more successful than others as Nirvana carried on its experiments.
