Children Education in Mexico

This research paper touches upon the theme of children education in Mexico. It is known that the level of education in Mexico is rather low due to some reasons which include economical situation in the country, political and social issues. The paper discusses different stages of children education in Mexico, problems in the development of education and some improvements that have already been done. The paper represents statistical data concerning the major issue. In conclusion of the paper, the main points are summarized.

1 Introduction
Nowadays education plays an important role in the development of both the country and the nation. It is impossible to have a highly developed economical system in the country without corresponding educational system because only the specialists of high level will be able to improve the economy of the country. Mexico is a country with a low level of education. Despite impressive changes in the educational system for the last years there are still a lot of problems. Ignorance among the population, self interest and corruption among some teachers and political leaders cause damage to the future of young generation in Mexico “keeping the people ignorant and illiterate”, and poor. (Garcia, 2008)
Education in Mexico is controlled by the Secretariat of Public Education which regulates education standards. It is known that in 2009 the government allocated about $66 billion for the further development of educational system. The primary language is Spanish. It is used in all the public and private schools in Mexico. (Vargas-Hernandez, 2010)

1.1 Background of the problem
Mexican education is closely connected with the history. It is known that the first law which was related to education in Mexico was promulgated by the President of Mexico Benito Juares in 1867. It declared that the primarily education in the country would be absolutely free, obligatory for all the Mexican children and nonreligious.

In 1917, according to the Article 3 of the Mexican Constitution, federal government played an important role in the development of the educational system. Due to this fact all the private schools were supervised by the government.
In 1992, federal government of Mexico changed some articles in the Constitution and new law declared secondary education obligatory for all the students. Moreover, there were some obvious changes in the curriculum and decentralization of administration in preschool, primary as well as secondary school education. (McLaughlin, 2007)

1.2 Significance of the study
This research paper discusses a very important issue which is connected with the future of the country. That is why it requires serious relation of the government of Mexico to implementation of some reforms in the educational system of the country. In order to reduce poverty in the country and to put economical development on the higher level it is necessary to take appropriate measures which include increasing the number of educational institutions and its financing.

1. 3 Definition of terms
Primary school stands for an educational institution which provides elementary education to children in kindergarten through the sixth grade. Children learn the basic principles of various subjects such as math, science, history, geography, music, art, and languages. It is compulsory and free.
Junior high school is an educational institution which provides secondary education to children of 10 years and up to 16 years old. It is a compulsory and free.
High school stands for an educational institution which provides education to students of 15 to 18 years old, 10-12 grades.
