Specification

Taking, into consideration the work that is supposed to be done during the fulfillment of the current project, it is necessary to underline that the research of the current literature focusing on the problem of e-learning is really important in order to understand the essence of this process. To put it more precisely, it should be said that, according to many specialists, e-learning is an umbrella term that describes learning done at a computer, usually connected to a network, giving us an opportunity to learn almost anytime anywhere. At the same time, e-learning is not unlike any other type of education. In fact, nowadays, it is widely accepted that e-learning can be as rich and as valuable as the classroom experience or even more so.

Furthermore, the questionnaires and interviews will help better understand the opinion of specialists, and probably, participants on e-learning because they have either direct experience of work using e-learning or they researched the problem of e-learning in details. It should be said that many specialists underline that e-learning has certain unique features that make this way of learning really different from others. At any rate, it is necessary to underline that e-learning is an experience that leads to comprehension and mastery of new skills and knowledge, just like its traditional counterparts but with the help of different tools, which implies distant learning, instead of traditional classroom learning. It proves beyond a doubt that the use of e-learning can have a number of benefits.

Firstly, it increases students’ skills and abilities of the use of new technologies in education as they are constantly using new IT in order to keep learning being at their computers, for instance. At the same time, the planning of learning also partially depends on students and they are relatively free in their priorities and schedule that is less probably in traditional process of learning. Consequently, student develops skills of independent work and, what is even more important, independent search of information and acquisition of new knowledge.

On the other hand, e-learning may have a number of drawbacks which traditional classrooms do not have at all. For instance, one of the major problems students may face after choosing e-learning instead of traditional one is the lack of opportunity to get socialized within the classroom. Furthermore, the communication of students and teachers becomes impersonal and, in actuality, neither students nor teachers cannot really know and understand each other.

In this respect, students will suffer the most, since teachers participating in e-learning are practically deprived of an opportunity to better understand their students through the direct personal communication. Finally, there is a risk that the control over the progress of students from the part of teachers may be quite problematic since because of the use of new technologies it is quite difficult to properly assess the extent to which students progress and whether it is their personal progress or probably they use the help of others to perform their academic activities.
