Increased rates of Chlamydia in young people is a public health concern essay

This work is dedicated to the specific topic. It consists from summarizing and analyzing the information and thoughts, given in different works about this theme. The essay sheds light on the main argument of the definition and determining different terms as “health problems”, “Chlamydia”. Our core focus will be on the determining main standpoints of such questions: the improvement of the statement: increased rates of Chlamydia in young people are a public health concern.

 To understand the whole statement better I think it will be appropriate to mention some issues. Some of persistent illnesses and health problems in the world are tobacco (its use is the single largest preventable cause of cancer), alcohol (there is a causal relationship between alcohol and more than 60 types of disease and injury). In addition, there are blood pressure (raised blood pressure causes stroke and heart disease) and cholesterol (high cholesterol levels increase the risk of coronary heart disease). Recently, some kind of health problem appeared.

Visual impairment, it means that such illnesses lead to preventable blindness; physical inactivity, which causes 2 million deaths a year. Rich and poor countries have different problems with health sphere.

Talking about effects of sex, should be mentioned that sex can lead not only to satisfaction and pleasure, but also to illnesses and health problems. This seems to prove the situation in the world: level of illnesses that sex can cause rose. Consequently, unsafe or unprotected sex can result in HIV, STD, the risk of pregnancy (if it is not desired), syphilis and other diseases.

Chlamydia (STD) is known to be a very common sexually transmitted disease, which is widespread among adults and adolescents who are sexually active. A well-known bacterium named Chlamydia trachomatis results in this disease. Chlamydia is seemed to be an intracellular organism, because only cells can make it grow. Traditionally, this organism influences the cervix; moreover, the fallopian tubes in women’s bodies and the urethra (the penis opening, which is passed by urine and semen) in men’s organisms. Examples of areas that could be infected by this bacterium include:

  • the surfaces of the urethra, vagina, cervix and endometruim;
  • the fallopian tubes;
  • anus and rectum;
  • lining of the eyelid;
  • and less commonly the throat (Toomey K, Barnes, R. 1990 p. 645).

However, Chlamydia is usually transmitted due to anal, vaginal or oral sex. Such disease does not produce any symptoms. They can be such: painful process of urination, lower abdominal ache, discharge of vaginal organ, infection of blood and even cervix inflammation with pus. Chlamydia is one of the most widespread reasons of becoming infertile and damage of the reproductive organs of women. According to CDC, Chlamydia is the most frequently reported bacterial STD in the United States. In 2002, 834,555 Chlamydial infections were reported to CDC from 50 states and the District of Columbia (D.T. Fleming and J.N. Wasserheit 2006 p. 6).  Young women and female adolescents are more likely to have Chlamydia. 4 million of American people become infected with Chlamydia annually. Recently researches have discovered that prevalence in general exceeded almost 10% within adolescent girls, who are sexually active and exceeded about 5% through the young women. However, the level being shown can appear to be rather higher, because symptoms are not produced, thus, people are not aware of the illness. Every year 2 million dollars are being exceeded on health costs of infection of Chlamydia. When Chlamydia illnesses is not fighting with it can lead to women’s sterility, moreover when vaginal delivery between mother and a child takes place it can affect the baby from the mother. This disease results in newborn pneumonia and pink eye.

However, sex has much more advantages. As a result of having sex you can reduce heart attack or stroke, depression, better bladder control, weight loss, overall fitness, pain relief, a feeling of happiness and satisfaction, and even better teeth. One theory of causality: Prostaglandin is a hormone found only in semen, might be absorbed in the female genital tract, thus modulating female hormones. According to recently researches, a human, who have sex at least three times a week, reduce the risk of heart disease or stroke nearly by a half. One University in Pennsylvania has found that humans who have sex once or twice a week are less likely to be ill: they have 30% higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A that is seemed to boost the immune system.

Conclusion

In conclusion, sex can cause many illnesses. But sex is not scaring or not under any circumstances useless.

Undeniable, sex leads to improving of smell. It is known that after sex surges the hormone prolactin production.

At last, one having regular and enthusiastic sex, by contrast, confers a host of measurable physiological advantages. In conclusion, sex should not be without love. In the opposite side, such sex will harm your emotionally, and cause damage to your feeling of self-confidence and respect.
