Japan’s geisha

There are many viewpoints about geishas. Many people identify them with prostitutes. But it is wrong mind. At first it is art to be a geisha. And even more ”“ it is art that includes many other arts in it. It is set of music, dance and difficult courtesy. If some girl wants to be a geisha she must begin her study of music and dance when she is very young, rather at her childhood and continues it throughout her lives, during many years. She can start working when she is already of age. This art was born in the earliest stages of Japanese history. Public opinion always considers decently geisha’s phenomenon. Japanese never look at geishas like to something not moral. So when a man visits geisha he doesn’t keep it a secret even from his wife. The Japanese’s wives are modest. So why Japanese men like to visit geishas. Geishas show them all their skill and all their ingenuity. Sure European moral and European life’s norms and stereotypes can look at it like at something strange. But moral and ethics are always different in rather ages and at rather nations. Even many Japanese marry geishas. I think being a geisha is art of being a woman.

One of the most recognizable characteristics of geisha is her makeup. Geishas inflict on their face white makeup. It was done by rice powder. In past the white base mask was made with lead, but after the discovery that it poisoned the skin and caused terrible skin and back problems changed that traditional makeup and replaced it with rice powder. The traditional makeup of geishas make them with red lipstick and red and black accents around the eyes and eyebrows. The traditional dress of geisha is highly colorful kimano.
