The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks is a popular book and the movie at the same time. In this paper I want to compare and contrast both of them. I want to say that it is a love story that surprises many people since the day book was published. When I saw the film I was interested in fact how actors could to show us such great romantic feelings in such true way. From the first seconds it became clear that is a film about love and romantic deep feelings will appear on the scene.  Actually it was not much love in the film as we can expect watching other romantic films, because this film appeals not only to our hearts but also to our minds, its show us inside world of characters and makes us love and cry with them. Most senses were in an elderly man, with love reading the diary of memory, diary of their love to his beloved person.
His faith, his devotion, his love ”“ I think that all these feelings touch our hearts and remind us our past love stories and time when we were waiting of love and dream about the meeting with our lovely people.
Many films took as plot different books stories and love stories have been made into great and not so great movies since the beginning of motion pictures. Describing the film we can see that it has dual plot and lack of special effects, but may be exactly it makes The Notebook different. Some people like to watch TV and they consider that the film is better than book, but another part of them like to read books and they say that the book is written much better than the film was mad. I don’t want to choose the side of one or another group because I like both of them and I think that they are interesting by their point of view in relate to one work of literature.
Let’s discuss the main events with more detail and it will help us to compare and contrast both the film and the book. As for me, The Notebook is a real love story and we can find there true emotions and feelings, because events were so really described that we even can imagine ourselves on the place of main characters. It is a work of literature about two people who meet and then fall in love. According to many movie reviews we can say that after falling in love “they both went away after the summer, and met again a few years later. Realizing Allie was engaged to someone else, they fell back in love. The whole time Noah is reading a notebook to Allie in a nursing home. He was just hoping she will remember who he was. The Notebook is a movie worth watching because the timing of the climax was at a perfect time; the plot is in very high interest, and it holds peoples attention, and the characters play the parts excellently.”
Reading the book and watching the movie I can show you several differences between them. For example, the first difference we can see in fact of the main characters meeting, because in the book she met Noah and they just spent time with together until the carnival was over but in the movie he jumped on the faris wheel to ask her out. The other difference we can find the description of their relations because in the book the main heroine left on good terms and in comparison to it in the movie they got in a fight before she left and they both regreated it.
One more fact makes me surprise because this fact is consist in the quantity of letters. All of us remember that there were a lot of letters, but if we decide to count their quantity we will understand that in the film we can find much more letters, I mean that in the book Noah wrote her 1 letter a month (12 letters) and in the movie he wrote her 1 letter every day for a year (365 letters). I think that it is not very considerable detail, but both of them show us that it was real love that admired people since the world appearance.
I think that all dialogues are very sincere and I want to quote my favorite passages from the film and than from the book. Movie show us “I am no one special, just a common man with common thoughts. I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me, and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect, I’ve succeeded as gloriously as anyone who ever lived. I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul, and for me, that has always been enough.” And one more passage that I like: “Southern summers are indifferent to the trials of young love. Armed with warnings and doubts, Noah and Allie gave a remarkably convincing portrayal of a boy and a girl traveling down a very long road with no regard for the consequences.” I think that it is not necessary to comment both of them, because the thoughts and words are so simple that when you heard them they full your soul and become the part of your own inside world.
In this paragraph I want to present you my favorite passages from the book, because in previous paragraph I begin from the movie quotes.
Nicholas Sparks express his thoughts through the next word in The Notebook: “And I learned what is obvious to a child. That life is simply a collection of little lives, each lived one day at a time. That each day should be spent finding beauty in flowers and poetry and talking to animals. That a day spent with dreaming and sunsets and refreshing breezes cannot be bettered. But most of all, I learned that life is about sitting on benches next to ancient creeks with my hand on her knee and sometimes, on good days, for falling in love.” I want to show my book understanding through these quotations and the next will be: “In times of grief and sorrow I will hold you and rock you, and take your grief and make it my own. When you cry, I cry, and when you hurt, I hurt. And together we will try to hold back the floods of tears and despair and make it through the potholed streets of life.”
Thus, taking into account all above mentioned we can say that the both the book and the film are brilliant because they show us the world of love and the world of real feelings. I think that every person should read the book and than may be if it will be interesting to watch the film. I also understand that we should take care of our beloved people and never always listen to our heart. I want to thank the author for his wonderful work of literature and to say that I begin to read more from the moment I read The Notebook. And the end of my paper I want to add one more quotation from the book The Notebook, because it is necessary to repeat once more that author want to show us and remember these words not only by our minds but also by our hearts: “The hurt began to fade and it was easier to just let go. At least I thought it was. But in every boy I met in the next few years, I found myself looking for you, and when the feelings got too strong I’d write you another letter. But I never sent them, in fear of what I might find. By then, you’d gone on with your life and I didn’t want to think about you loving someone else. I wanted to remember us like we were that summer. I didn’t want to ever forget that.” We should looking for our love every day and believe that the love is a great and eternal feeling.
